When you have been awakened during the night with thunder and lightning, you tend to want to rollover and forget about sightseeing. When you both are suddenly alerted on your phones by the Cretan emergency service telling you that the local buses won’t be running due to the weather, you sit up and listen. Welcome to Souda Bay- and the town of Chania.
Chania is a city on the NW coast of Crete. It’s known for it its 14th century Venetian harbour, narrow streets and waterfront restaurants. Mr X was interested in their WW11 history. Sounds too good to miss out on? Mr and Ms X crossed their fingers and toes and stayed put until the clearance was given that it was okay to step outside as long as one wore their coat and took their brolly. Ms X being such a rule follower did just that.

The sea was pretty angry that day and so was the sky so our retirees and their blog readers have to imagine sunshine and a bright sky.

Now you will have to trust and take Ms X’s word for it that she thought this looked like little-Venice as soon as she saw it.
The Greek dip platter and the heaters provided a warm and dry haven for a while.

Interesting architecture and garden plants provided more interest for a rainy day visit.

Our retirees are sure you are beautiful normally Chania and they understand that everywhere has an off day sometimes.
Venice shades and perhaps Port Wenn shades too??
