Should we? Our travel group was undecided if we should venture to Whistler however the opportunity and experiences outweighed the 4 hour round trip.

Setting off very very early, taking the scenic, Sea to Shore Highway quickly sweetened the deal, whilst a visit to Shannon Falls and a breakfast stop at Squamish were excellent choices.

What hit us first at Whistler was the huge number of mountain bike riders, all kitted out, all different ages, from the very young to the senior citizens.

We all took the gondola (GON-dola) to the top of Backcomb Mountain. Mr X who is heights-sensitive was comforted by Ms N all the way.

From there it was the Peak2Peak gondola across to Whistler Mountain. Known for its engineering, it has the largest unsupported span of its kind in the world (3,024 mts), That’s pretty impressive.

When safely on Terra Firma, the group split into adventurous and safety-conscious. Ms N and Mr S took the world’s highest chairlift and then hiked up a slopey bit of land to get to the sky bridge that they bravely conquered!

Ms X and Mr X opted for a drink whilst they enjoyed the mist/fog………..

….until it lifted! A Whistler Miracle for sure.

Mr X in front of Inukshuk which symbolises guidance survival navigation community and the enduring relationship between the Inuit people and their environment.

The day was completed by a wander through Whistler’s Village and then a return trip back to Vancouver. Two hours to get there but four hours to return.

Vancouver’s traffic made our trip home so long and tedious however Ms N kept everyone buoyant with her car-games. Whistler WAS worth visiting.
