Those who know Mr X, understand that he loves a good quality historical ruin. His time spent in Pompeii, the Acropolis, the Roman ruins and of course, his favourite, the Colosseum are legendary. So how many brownie points did Ms X get for planning a visit to The Palace of Knossos on this trip you wonder? “So many” to use one of Ms Lucy’s sayings.

The Palace is believed to have originated around 7000BC. The only disappointment with this site, was that Mr X couldn’t track down the Minotaur (the half bull half man who’s part of Greek Mythology).

Just like Pompeii, he looked at every stone, wall, object from every angle.

Ms X however was entertained by the wandering peacocks!

Heraklion does have other offerings:

a lovely harbour,

interesting parking,
a shop that’s sort of a cross between Bunnings and Spotlight,
a harbour fort
and of course peacocks!
