When a small island country demands two posts, then you know there’s a lot happening there. When our retirees returned from their jaunt around the Mediterranean, visiting Athens and Crete, they still had unfinished business in Malta. They had seen one side however there were other parts to explore.

Now Kurt, their Maltese driver in a previous post had criticised the beach, modern touristy area of St Julien and its surrounds. Mr and Ms X did not have the heart to tell them that that was where they were heading.

Our local travel agent, Ms C had suggested a few days of R&R in St George’s Bay, an area within the St Julien’s region. Beautiful!

The Corinthia Hotel

This part was the modern part of Malta, catering for those who just come for rest and relaxation but never quite see the true-Malta. It was nice for the travellers to hang there for a while.

Trust the retirees, the food was good!

Although this part is quite pretty with entertainment and eateries quite plentiful, Ms X and Mr X thought that it lacked soul.

A day trip by ferry to the Maltese island of Gozo returned this couple back to the essence of what they believed to be the true Malta.

From enjoying the spectacular coastline and the narrow streets to the fortified city of Victoria and the warmth of the people, our travellers had a wonderful experience exploring Gozo.

So, what are you all waiting for? Take Ms M’s advice which is verified by our backpackers with wheels, and get yourself to Malta.
