This destination proved to be a surprise for all of us. On paper it didn’t offer much at all but somehow these four retirees embraced all that the town did have to offer and that was plenty.

There’s always a museum beckoning and this one enlightened the group on the human:animal size ratio in some cases.

The group started walking through the town, meeting the locals as they surveyed the coffee scene on offer.

Despite it having a customer chatting to the barista, it didn’t seem to have a machine with beans or seats to rest the weary legs…………..so, ‘bu-bong!’
Onwards they trudged until the Old Time Diner appeared to be the next best on offer. Despite seeing the owner/waiter at the back of the property, they chose to still offer their patronage.

They can now tick off an old town diner as an experience. No beans, drip coffee but there was a Twinnings Earl Grey teabag to be had. Ms X chatted to a guy who was from Pt Macquarie and had lived there for 26 years. Wow.

They felt shamed into purchasing something to eat and so selected the curly fries, which Ms M considered them to be very tasty. Ms K dodged that bullet.

The Octoberfest was in full swing with the locals turning up in great numbers. Ms M and Ms X had an enjoyable time wandering the markest and then spent a chunk of time trying to find their other halves.
Big sigh
Of course, they had pole position on the balcony of the local beer brewery. Suffice to say they too agreed, that Valdez was a great port of call.

We will have to wonder what ‘sacred grounds’ espresso would’ve been like… also, is Mr X sporting new aviators??
