Why Zimbabwe? These two travellers wanted to tick off another of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World; the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The falls are the largest example of falling water in the world. They are REAL AND THEY ARE SPECTACULAR. (#Seinfeld) In these travellers’ opinion, they are better than Niagara Falls.
Before setting out on your visit, one must make some preparations, namely consider footwear and rain jacket. One can avoid getting wet by standing back and not taking it all in, however, when in Rome! First you see their mist in the sky from a long, long way away and then you hear them before you finally see them. Dr Livingstone, we presume, would have been very excited all those years ago.

Our retirees’ accommodation was at the A’zambezi River Lodge that was situated adjacent to the Zambezi River. It is because of this fact that the travellers sometimes had visitors during the day and evening.

Some of our visitors.
Safaris happened both on the river and in the wild. The private early morning safari for our retirees was both freezing and off the beaten track. This time the guide saw the animals and then drove to them, whether there was a road or not. Animals that were just waking up allowed Mr and Ms X to sit quietly and observe them for a greater length of time. A highlight was when the guide drove to an unfenced viewing platform and pulled out a tablecloth and set up a picnic. Hot tea and home made muffins were served right in the middle of the savanna. A real punch me moment for them both.

The twilight river safari was a fantastic experience for all. Enjoying cocktails and canapés whilst cruising the Zambezi River and watching the hippos, crocodiles and elephants along the shore or in the river, will always be remembered.

There were so many memorable moments of our time in Zimbabwe. Mr X finding a “Three Monkeys” Restaurant, Ms X having the best coffee and of course the people of this wonderful county. Thank you.
